In the clash of two of the best teams in the West, which was also a duel between perhaps the two best centers in the NBA, the visiting Nuggets and Nikola Jokić took the win 109–112.
The Serbian national team member and the best basketball player in the world had another one of those classic brilliant nights, and the Sombor triple-double this time missed by just one assist: 34 points (11/20 shooting), 10 rebounds, 9 assists.
In the end, Nikola sealed the game with two free throws, and he was helped by an excellent Jamal Murray with 26 points (10 assists), a motivated Hardaway Jr. with 12, and Watson with 9.
For the hosts, the best was Sheppard with 27, Jabari Smith scored 21 points, had 11 rebounds and 4 assists, and right behind him was Thompson with 22. Şengün underperformed a bit with 14 points (6 assists, 5 rebounds).
An important game for Denver, which solidified its second place in the Conference with a 12–3 record, and also gained a psychological advantage ahead of the upcoming clashes between these two teams in the season and, very possibly, the playoffs. Houston dropped from third to fifth place in the West (10–4).
Jokić and the team play their next game already tomorrow, hosting Sacramento at home.
