An appeal has been launched on GoFundMe.com to help the family of Serbian national Vera Pitulić, who was brutally killed in the United States, so that her body can be transported back to Serbia and she can be given a dignified final farewell.
The GoFundMe campaign, titled “Help Us Bring Her Home,” states that Vera was a victim of domestic violence and is survived by two children, two brothers, and many loved ones.
According to the appeal, since her parents have passed away, her brothers are now not only coping with an immense personal loss but also facing the responsibility of arranging the transportation of her body to Serbia and completing all the necessary procedures.
“Our wish is to bring her back to her native Serbia, where she can be laid to rest among her closest family members. However, the costs of transportation and organizing her funeral represent a significant financial burden for our family,” the appeal states.
“Every contribution, regardless of the amount, brings us one step closer to fulfilling her final wish and allowing her a dignified return home,” the fundraising campaign says.
The organizer also thanked everyone willing to help the family during their most difficult time, especially for the sake of Vera’s two children, who have been left without their mother.
“Rest in peace. You will always be loved, and you will always be missed,” the post concludes.
To recall, Serbian citizen Vera Pitulić (41), who was killed in Dallas, was originally from Užice and had lived in the United States for years with her two children. Her body was found inside a car on Tuesday, two days after her family reported her missing.
According to her family, U.S. police arrested her partner on suspicion of committing the crime. Vera was divorced and the mother of two children, who were staying with their father at the time of the tragedy.
Relatives say Vera had not contacted anyone since Saturday, and her disappearance was reported to the police that same day. Due to legal procedures, the official search began on Sunday, while her body was discovered two days later.
According to the family, police questioned her partner during the investigation. He claimed he did not know where she was. However, investigators determined that her mobile phone was last active at his home, after which her body was found inside a vehicle.
According to relatives, Vera was last seen at a gathering with her partner, where an argument allegedly broke out after he consumed alcohol and became jealous. The family says she had never complained about problems in the relationship and describes her as cheerful, warm, and beloved by her friends, who were the first to alert police after she disappeared.
