The Congress of the European Aquatics Federation (EA), held in Tbilisi, made the decision to move the organization’s headquarters from Nyon, Switzerland, to Belgrade.
Serbia thus becomes home to the first international sports federation to transfer its headquarters to our country, which represents a historic event for our sport and state.
EA President Antonio Silva pointed out that the review process lasted more than a year and that the decision was made through a fair and transparent evaluation system, taking into account the accessibility of the location, top infrastructure, and quality of life. In his address, he especially emphasized the role of the EA Bureau members, as well as the Federation’s Vice President, Vanja Udovičić, who, as he said, was the key link between Serbia and the European Federation in carrying out this complex process.
Under the auspices of EA are five Olympic sports – swimming, water polo, artistic swimming, diving, and open water swimming, and from now on, Belgrade will be the place where the European future of these sports is shaped.
