Athletes of Serbia won four medals at the Balkan Championship for younger juniors in Novo Mesto.
The national team of Serbia won three silver and one bronze medal in Slovenia, along with a large number of placements in the finals and performances that encourage before the continuation of the season.
The silver medals were reached by Petar Čvokić in the discus throw (1.5 kg) with a throw of 54.02 m, which also fulfilled the norm for the European Championship for younger juniors (U18), Martina Burčer in the discus throw with a result of 46.39 m, as well as Ivan Pajkić, who cleared 2.07 m in the high jump.
The bronze medal was won by the men’s 4×100 m relay team consisting of Uroš Branković, Lazar Stojiljković, Stefan Đura, and Petar Tihojević, which crossed the finish line in 43.34 seconds.
In addition to the medal winners, Serbian national team members achieved several other notable placements. Maksim Hasečić took fourth place in the 3,000 m with a result of 9:24.60, while Mia Janjić in the high jump (1.68 m), Jana Stošić in the shot put (14.76 m), and Martina Burčer in the hammer throw (54.58 m) finished the competition in fifth position.
Seventh-placed were Anđela Cvetković in the long jump, Nikola Berić in the hammer throw, and Ognjen Popov, who won in his qualification group in the 800 m and finished the competition in seventh place in the overall standings.
Among the top ten were also Andreja Radisavljević (8th place, triple jump), Novak Perišić (8th place, 2,000 m steeplechase), Lazar Stojiljković (9th place, long jump), Jana Lovčević (9th place in the shot put and 4th place in the discus throw), Mona Pavlović (9th place, triple jump), Đorđe Ristanović (10th place, javelin throw), Kaid Koca (10th place, 1,500 m), Maša Krizmanić (11th place, 800 m), Aleksa Bajin (11th place in the 400 m), Mihajlo Raković (11th place, triple jump), as well as numerous other national team members who worthily represented Serbia in a strong regional competition.
As part of the competition program, but out of competition (VK), Lena Bogdanović, Nađa Savić, and Stefan Đura also performed in disciplines that were not in the official program of the Balkan Championship. Bogdanović achieved an excellent time of 58.71 seconds in the 400 m hurdles, Savić cleared 3.25 m in the pole vault, while Đura ran 57.70 seconds in the 400 m hurdles, confirming good form before the upcoming competitions.
