The Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Belgrade is going on strike, Nova.rs learns. According to the president of the Faculty Employees’ Union, the strike was voted for yesterday by the Executive Board, and a meeting of the strike committee with the dean of the faculty is currently underway to define the minimum work requirements, to which employees are obliged.
“The meeting is in progress, so for now, I can tell you that the Executive Board of the Faculty of Philosophy Employees’ Union voted for a strike based on the declaration of the teaching staff who are union members. So, the Faculty of Philosophy is going on strike, and the strike gathers the teaching staff of the faculty,” explains the president of the strike committee, Professor Dr. Nada Sekulić.
When asked what the strike specifically entails and when it will take effect, Professor Nada replied that she would only know after defining the minimum work requirements, to which employees are obliged.
“I will be able to tell you that once we define the minimum work. We are currently determining this in cooperation with the Faculty Administration and in cooperation with the students. At this moment, our students are not in favor of switching to online classes; they defined that within the plenum, but various forms of negotiations are underway. For now, we are not considering classes, but the situation is flexible; we still don’t know what the final outcome will be; we will know in a few days,” she stated.
