Serbian volleyball players recorded another defeat in the Nations League, as after a great battle they lost to Belgium with a score of 3:2 (25:20, 25:22, 21:25, 20:25, 15:12).
Zoran Terzić’s chosen ones entered the match poorly and during the first two sets failed to find the right rhythm. The Belgian women took advantage of a large number of Serbia’s errors, controlled the score, and deservedly reached a 2:0 lead in sets.
Although our volleyball players managed to threaten and reduce the deficit in the second set after being down by six points, they did not have enough strength to completely turn the situation around and return to the match right then.
However, when many thought that the question of the winner was resolved, Serbia showed character. In the third and fourth sets, the “blue ladies” played much more confidently and aggressively, took control of the court, and reached a 2:2 equalizer in the identical way Belgium had dominated the first two sets.
The decision was made in the fifth set, which brought a great battle and uncertainty. The teams were tied until the score of 11:11, when Belgium tied three points together and reached three match points. Maja Aleksić managed to save the first one, but the very next one brought the triumph to the Belgian women.
Serbia thus finished the first tournament with a record of one victory and three defeats. The only triumph was achieved against Thailand, while Zoran Terzić’s chosen ones were previously defeated by Poland, China, and Belgium.
Before the Serbian volleyball players, there are now two more tournaments of the Nations League, during which they will have the opportunity to improve the impression and try to secure a place in the final tournament of the competition.
