Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Zrenjanin, in cooperation with the Provincial Environmental Protection Inspectorate and by order of the chief public prosecutor of the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in this city, arrested Chinese citizen H. J. (63), on suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of bringing hazardous materials into Serbia and the unlawful processing, disposal, and storage of hazardous materials.
During a search of the company where the suspect is the responsible person, the police found around 30 tons of battery waste, 52 tons of melted lead, and 50 tons of plastic suspected to be hazardous waste, for which he does not possess a permit from the competent authority for storage.
The suspect has been detained for up to 48 hours and will, together with a criminal report, be brought before the competent prosecutor’s office.
