Students participating in the blockade have appealed for the University of Belgrade to take more radical measures of resistance in a form the University deems appropriate, in order to “now, in unison, students and University representatives act as a unified body fighting for the honor and dignity of the academic community, and to jointly restore the University’s well-deserved credibility.”

“We, the students in blockade, strongly condemn the statements, insults, slander, and threats directed at our Rector Vladan Đokić and our deans of higher education institutions. We also condemn the amendments to the Regulation on Norms and Standards of Work Conditions for Universities and Faculties for Activities Funded from the Budget, considering that this move directly endangers the unity of teaching and scientific research activities,” stated the students in blockade.
They also condemned the slander and physical attack on the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy in Niš, Natalija Jovanović.
“We condemn all attempts to intimidate the University! Such actions by public officials require an immediate response! If the state were a body, education would be the basic unit of structure and function of a healthy body, students its heart, and the University the brain that drives everything. Unfortunately, we are witnessing the disparagement and propaganda that has been spreading through society in recent days, which unequivocally undermines the credibility and autonomy of the University, as well as the freedom of expression of all members of the academic community,” the students stated.
