Bishop Grigorije of Düsseldorf and all of Germany stated that it is painful to watch the arrests and beatings of young people, which is why he believes it is essential for the violence to stop immediately and for a democratic government to be elected through a fair process, reports radio Sto plus.
In an interview with the Raška-based portal “Razglas,” he said that young people in Serbia are a true phenomenon in all of Europe, in terms of their fight for justice, freedom, peace, and the functioning of something that serves humanity.
“The young people and the nation have not been defeated by anyone; that is completely clear. The only thing that is problematic is that the people sometimes don’t realize this and think that the others are stronger. The people are strongest when they fight for justice,” said Bishop Grigorije.
He stated that no one should be afraid of “cowardly bullies” who will ultimately be the losers.
“We in the church know this from the holy martyrs; they never beat anyone; they were beaten. Today we celebrate Archdeacon Stephen, and we don’t remember those who stoned him. Therefore, those who are holding bars and batons today should know that they will soon be terribly forgotten and horribly irrelevant, in their own homes, families, the world, and history. Those who are beaten will be glorious and important for history, for their own families, and for their honor,” said Bishop Grigorije.
