After information surfaced last night about a mass brawl between Croatians and Slovenians at the Krvavec ski resort in Slovenia, the Slovenian police have officially commented on the incident, reports 24ur.
Police Report on the Event
According to the head of the Kranj Police Station, Matjaž Završnik, the police received a report of a fight in a catering establishment at the Krvavec ski resort on Saturday at 1:26 AM. The nearest police patrol was immediately dispatched to the scene and arrived within half an hour despite the distance.
Upon arrival, the police found a calm situation as the participants in the fight had already dispersed. However, the police continued to gather information and witness statements to reconstruct the event.
“According to the data collected so far, a verbal altercation occurred between two groups, which quickly escalated into a physical confrontation. Both groups were celebrating at separate private parties in the same establishment,” said Završnik.
Six people were injured and received medical attention. The police have launched an intensive investigation on suspicion of committing criminal offenses, including causing bodily harm, participating in a brawl, and violent behavior.
According to reports, the police have secured footage from video surveillance, interviewed witnesses, and collected evidence from the scene, including damage to objects and vehicles nearby.
Witnesses Accuse Police of Inefficiency
The initial information about the brawl was scarce, and the police only confirmed that they had been dispatched to the scene. However, the Croatians who were involved in the conflict made a number of accusations against the police.
“The police didn’t do anything – they didn’t perform any breathalyzer tests, they didn’t arrest anyone, nor did they file a report against the attackers,” said one of the participants in the conflict for 24ur.
According to him, the attackers returned to the hotel after the fight as if nothing had happened.

What Caused the Brawl?
According to available information, a group of 30 Croatians, employees of a private company, arrived at the Krvavec ski resort for a “team building” event. At the same time, an 18th birthday party for the granddaughter of the ski resort owner was being held at the same hotel.
Some Croatians were reportedly invited to the birthday party, which led to interaction with the Slovenian group. Although the exact cause of the conflict is unknown, witnesses claim that a verbal altercation occurred which quickly escalated into a mass brawl.
“My colleagues were bloody, their faces were completely disfigured, there were broken bottles on the floor,” said one of the participants in the brawl, visibly shaken by the scenes he witnessed.
According to him, he and his boss suffered serious injuries.
“They beat me and my boss. Suddenly, a group of five men surrounded us. I fell to the ground, they beat me, hit me on the head and body, everything is bruised. I tried to hide under the table, but as soon as I stood up, they hit me in the face with their fists again.”
The most distressing scene, according to the witness, was the brutal beating of his boss.
“My boss managed to go outside, but they caught up with him there and continued to beat him while he was unconscious. They didn’t stop even when he was lying on the ground. He has a broken jaw, he can’t see out of his right eye, and his head is completely swollen.”
Six Injured, Two Transferred to Hospital
Emergency medical services also arrived at the scene, and according to the director of the Kamnik Health Center, Saša Rebolj, at least six people were injured, two of whom were transferred to a hospital in Croatia. One of them is expected to undergo surgery.
“The injured have broken noses, head cuts, wounds on their hands, and numerous scratches,” Rebolj told 24ur.
The hotel staff did not want to comment on the incident, but the hotel spokesperson, Barbara Trebušak, confirmed that the guests from Croatia were accommodated in a separate part of the hotel, far from the Slovenian guests.
“A group of 30 Croatians arrived on Friday and were supposed to stay until Sunday, but they left the hotel after the incident,” said Trebušak.
Police Continue to Investigate the Incident
The police investigation is ongoing, and authorities are calling on witnesses to come forward to the Kranj Police Station to help shed light on the circumstances of the incident. So far, there is no information about the identities of the participants in the brawl, nor is it known whether any of them will face criminal charges.
The brawl involving several dozen people has sparked a great deal of reaction in Slovenia and Croatia, and witnesses have expressed dissatisfaction with the police response.
