A MIRACLE RETOLD FOR 27 YEARS: A grenade fell among 11 Serbian soldiers at Košare and did not explode!

The Battle of Košare, one of the hardest, bloodiest, and most glorious battles in the recent history of the Serbian army, will remain remembered as an eternal symbol of heroism and sacrifice for the homeland.

On the Yugoslav-Albanian border, during 67 days of continuous hell, members of the Army of Yugoslavia managed, through superhuman efforts and courage, to defend the state territory from a multiple times superior enemy.

108 members of the VJ gave their lives for the homeland

The battle officially ended on June 14, 1999, when, based on the Kumanovo Agreement, the Army of Yugoslavia withdrew from Kosovo and Metohija and handed over positions to KFOR forces. During the 67 days of defending the border, 108 members of the Army of Yugoslavia gave their lives for the homeland.

In addition to military reports and historical facts about heroism from the front line, deeply moving testimonies have been circulating among veterans and on social networks for years. One such story, which testifies to an incredible survival under artillery fire, is tied to the fights on Maja Glava.

The grenade did not explode

-27 years ago, in the bloody fights at Košare, in the direction of Maja Glava, a real miracle happened. At the moment when a grenade fell among eleven warriors from the 122 mm howitzer division and the 120 mm mortar battery from the 2nd Motorized Battalion, death was certain. But, by the grace of God and the prayers of the Holy King Stefan of Dečani, the grenade dug into the ground and did not explode – it is stated on the Facebook page “Ovo je Srbija” and added:

-The fuse broke off by hitting a stone. While dozens of other grenades around them activated, the eleven of them were given a new life.
