The Government of Serbia plans to establish Saint Sava University with the Serbian Orthodox Church. As announced after the Government session, a Memorandum of Understanding was adopted between the Republic of Serbia and the SOC, “bearing in mind the need for continuous improvement of the educational system and raising its quality in accordance with the principles of knowledge, upbringing, and morality.”
“This university is being established with the intention that cooperation between the state and the Serbian Orthodox Church in the field of higher education be based on a shared responsibility for the development of knowledge, the preservation of the fundamental values of the individual and society, and the nurturing of cultural and spiritual heritage,” the Government announced.
The statement notes that the Government today also adopted several regulations in the fields of healthcare, domestic and foreign trade, construction, transport and infrastructure, and other areas, “as well as a series of decisions, rulings, and conclusions.”
“At the session, the amended Decision on the temporary ban on the export of oil and petroleum products was also adopted to prevent a critical shortage, since global events significantly affect the supply of these goods and the reduction of offer. This decision has been extended until May 2, 2026, to protect the domestic market from a shortage of petroleum derivatives,” the statement says.
