Yesterday in Herceg Novi, police officers from the Border Police Sector arrested an internationally wanted individual, Serbian citizen S. O. (61).
According to the Montenegrin Police Directorate, during enhanced checks of the movement, stay, and employment of foreign nationals, officers from the Herceg Novi Border Police Station stopped S. O. (61), a citizen of the Republic of Serbia, who presented an ID card suspected to be falsified.
“Further checks conducted in cooperation with FRONTEX officers confirmed that the ID card was forged. The prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Herceg Novi was informed and stated that S. O.’s actions constitute elements of the criminal offense of document forgery,” the Montenegrin police said.
The statement added that detailed checks were also carried out in cooperation with NCB Interpol Podgorica, which confirmed that S. O. is subject to an international arrest warrant issued by NCB Interpol Belgrade.
“He is wanted to ensure his presence in criminal proceedings pending against him before the competent authorities of the Republic of Serbia,” the police added.
S. O. has been taken into custody and will, within the legal deadline, be brought before the acting prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Herceg Novi regarding the forged document. Afterwards, he will be handed over to the competent investigative judge based on the international arrest warrant.
