Exactly two years after the magnificent Belgrade premiere, which the film “Heroes of Halyard” by Radoš Bajić had in October 2023, exclusive news reaches the Serbian public that this film is now available on one of the largest global online streaming platforms, Amazon Prime, specifically for the US market.
Realized in co-production by Contrast Studios and Telekom Srbija, the film had its international premiere at the POFF Black Nights Film Festival in the Estonian city of Tallinn.
It achieved great success in theatrical distribution in the country and the region, followed by participation in numerous domestic and international festivals.
The film was then screened at special projections in Paris, Los Angeles, Boston, and several cities in Canada, as well as at the prestigious Moscow International Film Festival, where it generated great interest from the audience and critics.
A special screening in the US followed, which was held in early March 2024 in the US Congress on Capitol Hill, with the presence of congressmen, senators of the US Senate, and distinguished guests from American cultural and public life, making “Heroes of Halyard” the first Serbian film ever shown in this important institution.
The international success of the film, which is inspired by Operation “Halyard,” the largest rescue operation of pilots behind enemy lines in the history of world aviation, continued with the “Golden Sword” award for Best Film at the War Film Festival in Russia, and its premiere broadcast on the national television of the People’s Republic of China is soon expected, where “Heroes of Halyard” will be viewable by hundreds of millions of viewers.
The crowning achievement of this film’s success came with distribution contracts all over the world – in the territory of the USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, in South Korea, as well as in Latin American countries, which is of immense importance for the film itself, but also for Serbian cinematography and culture as a whole.
“This is a very significant reference for our film. We are extremely satisfied and proud, because the fact that “Heroes of Halyard” has been included in the American Amazon Prime list is simultaneously a confirmation of the great success and, even more importantly, the quality of our film, which came as a result of the huge efforts invested by the entire authorial and film crew.
