Serbian citizen Alon Ohel, who spent more than two years in Hamas captivity, met with his family today.

He has now finally met with his family, and a photograph of their first encounter has been published.

The photograph shows his mother, Idit, who left him a touching message in the room, hugging him while Alon smiles. He has visibly lost weight after his captivity, and it is presumed that he has eye injuries.

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted the message “Welcome home Alon Ohel” on the “X” platform, along with a description of the severe injuries and brutal conditions in which he was detained.

The long-awaited release came this morning, along with six other hostages, who formed the first group to be freed.
