The Slovenian basketball players played bravely against favored France, but in the end were defeated with the result 103:95 at the European Championship.
Although it seemed that they could make a big surprise, they ran out of strength in the end, so the French took the triumph.
The captain and best player of Slovenia, Luka Dončić, once again showed why he is one of the best basketball players in the world. He scored as many as 39 points, with eight rebounds and nine assists, and he brought the audience to their feet with masterful moves.
Although his brilliant performance was not enough for the victory, Dončić stood in front of Slovenian journalists after the game and talked about the game, as well as the criticism he received from his homeland.
To the remark that there had been criticism from Slovenia lately, Luka ironically replied:

When the journalist clarified that he meant those from his country, Dončić added:
“What can I say? We are fighting here, although we could be enjoying ourselves on the beach, so I hope that everyone who wants to support us – really does. So thank you to them.”
In this way, the Los Angeles Lakers ace clearly made it known that the support of the fans is much more important to him than the criticism that comes from the side.
