The Victory Parade in honor of the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism has concluded in Moscow, with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić representing Serbia at the commemoration.
The parade began with the hoisting of the Russian flag and the Victory Banner onto Red Square, accompanied by the melody of the song “Holy War.”
This year’s Victory Parade on Red Square was attended by more than 20 world leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. The President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, also attended the parade.
Before the parade began, the heads of state arrived at the Kremlin, where they were greeted by Russian President Vladimir Putin, from where they proceeded to Red Square and took their places in the stands.
It was announced that approximately 14,000 soldiers would participate in today’s parade and that more than 130 units of military equipment would be displayed, including modern tanks, missile systems, and air defense systems. The aircraft flyover was contingent on weather conditions.
The streets of the Russian capital were decorated with flags, and billboards with welcome messages to foreign leaders were erected.
Security measures were raised to the highest level, and restrictions on mobile internet service were announced.
In Russia, military parades are held in several cities every year on May 9th, Victory Day, with the central parade taking place on Red Square.
