SERB AND ROMANIAN CONVICTED IN AMERICA: They caused chaos with false reports, harassed Joe Biden and the White House!

A Romanian citizen has been sentenced to four years in prison in the United States of America (USA) because, together with a citizen of Serbia, he reported a fire at the White House and a shooting at the home of a famous American politician, the New York Times writes.

Romanian Thomas Szabo (27) and Serb Nemanja Radovanović were charged with organizing a wave of so-called “swatting” calls at the end of 2023, the Washington prosecutor’s office announced.

Among others, their “targets” included former US President Joe Biden, former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley, and Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene.

The New York Times writes that one of the calls was also directed at the White House while Joe Biden was president.

This happened on January 15, 2024, and American media reported under the “Urgent” tag that firefighters and emergency medical workers responded to a report that the “White House was on fire and that one person was trapped inside,” AP reported, citing an unnamed source from the White House.

“At the moment of the call and the arrival of the firefighting teams, both US President Joseph Biden and his family were at the other presidential residence, in Camp David,” AP published.

The Romanian and the Serb are charged with flooding American authorities with emergency calls about alleged crisis situations during a two-week period starting from the Christmas holidays in 2023 — a fire at the White House, a shooting at the home of a famous politician, bombs planted in churches and assembly buildings.

None of it was real.

They used Google Voice

Szabo has now pleaded guilty to dozens of false reports of violent incidents targeting politicians, election officials, media personalities, and law enforcement members.

Authorities state that the entire operation was devised by Szabo and that the goal was to cause chaos and disrupt daily life in America.

According to the prosecution, he and a group of young associates, mostly from abroad, organized the mass sending of false reports using the Google Voice service through an internet group called “Shenanigans.”

They allegedly sent more than 150 false reports of violent crimes during December 2023 and January 2024.

Washington Police Chief Michael Sullivan stated that “swatting is not just harassment, but an extremely dangerous practice.”

“This case shows that we will track threats across the world,” he said.

Szabo was charged in 2024, after which he was extradited to Washington, where he pleaded guilty last May to conspiracy and making threats.

The role of Nemanja from Serbia

Nemanja Radovanović from Serbia was charged alongside him.

According to court documents, Radovanović knew Szabo through their online community and made false calls from his home in Serbia using pre-prepared scripts and phone numbers that the group shared among members.

It is currently unknown whether Radovanović will be extradited to the United States of America.

According to correspondence from the investigation, members of the group exchanged tips on which public figures and numbers in America should be targeted. They claimed that their goal was not to support one political side, but to cause general chaos.

“We are not on either side,” Szabo wrote after instructing an associate to falsely report a famous Democrat from social media.

On December 26, 2023, Radovanović wrote:

“I did more than 25 swattings today. I am creating massive chaos in America.”

What is “swatting”

“Swatting” involves falsely reporting a violent crime to trigger an emergency police response, often by special units. The name comes from American SWAT teams, which respond to high-risk situations.

The Fortinet company website states that individuals who carry out such scams try to trick the police into sending a SWAT team — a special tactical unit — to the victim’s address. This is why the practice is called “swatting.”

“Swatters” falsely report situations such as bomb threats, hostage crises, shootings, and murders.

The consequences can be very dangerous, and in certain cases, innocent people have lost their lives during police interventions.
