At a strong swimming meet in Fort Lauderdale, USA, he improved the national record in the 50-meter freestyle.

In the qualifications, he swam 21.77, improving the previous best result, which was also in his possession, by five hundredths of a second.

Several hours later, he also won the final with a time of 21.83. He left behind Americans Michael Andrew with 21.97 and Quintin McCarty with 22.13.

Barna thus continued his streak of excellent results from 2024.

He then won European gold with the Serbian 4 x 100 freestyle relay at the championship in Belgrade, while in the individual 100 freestyle race at the same competition, he won bronze.
