STUDENT DAY TAKES TO THE STREETS: Here’s when and where demonstrations are planned in Serbia today!

Students blocking Belgrade faculties will mark Student Day, April 4, in the streets.

Student Day of the University of Belgrade has been celebrated since 1955 in memory of law student Žarko Marinović, who died on April 4, 1936, during a protest, fighting against the introduction of university police and the violation of university autonomy.

The students in blockade announced on Instagram that they will gather at Studentski Trg at 14:00, from where they will begin a protest march, and at 15:00 they will be in front of the Institute of Pathology.

There they will hold a minute of silence for Žarko Marinović, and after that, they will head toward the Faculty of Law via Slavija.

They have announced a program at the Faculty of Law, where at 16:00 there will be speeches, a performance by the blockade choir of the Faculty of Music Arts, and a tribute to those who died in the collapse of the canopy in Novi Sad and the nightclub fire in Kočani.

At 17:00, students will lay wreaths at the New Cemetery on Ruzveltova Street, which will mark the end of the protest.
