Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dačić confirmed that the girl D. M., who disappeared yesterday in Ub, was found conscious, communicative, and was taken to the hospital for examination. The girl was found at a distance of about two to three kilometers from her home. Police teams are still on the ground and will conduct an investigation at the place where the child was found. The girl was found by a tracking dog.

The “Find Me” system, which was activated on Monday regarding the child’s disappearance, was closed this morning.

As confirmed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs last night, a large number of police officers participated in the search for the girl, including citizens and members of the Mountain Rescue Service.

The father of the girl Dunja from Ub, who was searched for all day yesterday and was found alive and well, said that he hopes she will be released from the hospital soon.

“Dunja is with her mother in the hospital. Doctors are fighting to warm her up. They told me she was very cold,” said the father of the missing girl Dunja (2) for Kurir.

“Thank God, my child was found alive and well. They told me that after they warm her up, diagnostics will follow. If everything is okay, they should release her home tomorrow. We hope for that,” he added.

Aleksa Dragojlović from the Mountain Rescue Service said that the search looked like this: the call was received somewhere in the evening, and the Mountain Rescue Service of Serbia, Valjevo station, initially went to the field.

“Upon the initial approach to the scene, a call was sent to other Mountain Rescue stations, Belgrade and Novi Sad stations also arrived. Also, from the first moment, in joint coordination with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the search was carried out throughout the night and, well, in the morning, the success of the entire Mountain Rescue team and all the people from the Ministry of Internal Affairs was achieved through joint work,” says Dragojlović.

When asked what condition they found her in, he says:

“What is most important is that the person was found alive, for more information I believe someone from the health institution will announce.”

FIND OUT MORE IN SERBIAN:

And what did the search itself look like?

“A dog was included in the search. The search looked like this: search seasons are being done, i.e. hotspots, we have exactly those initial things we look for missing persons by. On the other hand, upon the arrival of the team from Belgrade, our colleague Dejan Šefković also arrived – he is a service dog handler, who actually found her this morning… So the dog found the girl. The girl was found with signs of life, so simply the daily success of us, volunteers who selflessly provide assistance to all citizens of this country and all people who are really in trouble, was achieved this time as well,” says the rescuer.

“This is not the first time that the Mountain Rescue Service has participated in searches and helped people in nature and simply that is something that all of us volunteers carry in our hearts and we never give up,” he adds.

He says that there was excellent cooperation with people from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but also points out minor problems:

“The joint coordination with them was really all determined at the highest possible level and that is simply the key that led to the resolution of this situation. Also, I would mention one more thing, that the Mountain Rescue Service of Serbia is a non-profit organization, made up of volunteers and people of various professions, it is not financed from the budget of our country and that potentially creates a small problem for us in our daily functioning,” the Mountain Rescue rescuer pointed out.
