A gendarme whose name is known to the Danas editorial office stated that on March 15, during the large protest, several “sound cannons” were deployed.

The gendarme who was engaged during the protest, and who told Danas that several cannons were deployed during the protest, says that one of them was standing behind the National Assembly.

“The device was mounted on the hood of our ‘Defender’ vehicle, which we colloquially call ‘Indian’. It’s a Defender without a roof. Next to it was an ‘operator’ who was in charge of operating this device. In addition to this vehicle, to the left of it was parked the same vehicle with the same device. We were told that this device would be activated if necessary, and how to behave in case of activation,” the gendarme tells Danas.

He says that at that moment he was not the only one next to this vehicle, but that there was a whole platoon of Gendarmerie there.

“The vehicle was hidden and could not be seen from the fence that surrounds the Assembly due to construction work. This device was not used in the end. However, there were more of these devices and they were deployed in different locations. We were told that there are also mobile devices that are not mounted on vehicles,” says the gendarme.

He states that each detachment of the Gendarmerie (Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kraljevo, Niš) has two such devices and that this has not been hidden from the members of the Gendarmerie at all until now, but that they have never been taken out of the base until the protest, Danas reports.

“We were also told that one device was placed in or near the Presidency, and that the tractors parked around Pioneer Park were placed precisely to repel the impact of the cannon if the cannon was used, because our people were also in the park,” he says.

Regarding the events in Kralja Milana Street where, according to many statements, this weapon was used, he says that he does not know where it could have been fired from, because he was near the Assembly.

Our source told us two days ago that those vehicles are in garages and that he will try to photograph them.

“I didn’t succeed because that garage is currently locked,” says the gendarme.

He emphasizes that a large number of Gendarmerie members knew about these vehicles that day.

Published photo of the alleged sound cannon on a police jeep

SSP Vice President Marinika Tepić published a photo from March 15, on which a device that looks like a Genasys LRAD 450XL sound cannon can be seen on a Gendarmerie jeep stationed near the National Assembly building.

The photo, which was shared on the social network X by MP Marinika Tepić, was taken from one of the buildings in Vlajkovićeva Street and shows police forces stationed around the National Assembly building, while a protest organized by students is taking place in Nikola Pašić Square.

“Right – a gathering of students and citizens. Left – the police hold a sound cannon on a jeep near the National Assembly of the state of Serbia,” wrote Tepić.

The SSP vice president assessed that the government endangered people’s lives.

“They used sound devices that they deployed around the city. The Serbian Assembly was therefore emptied so that they could freely park vehicles with LRAD 450XL”

She also announced that she will show “all the monstrosity of the regime and what devices they bought to deal with the citizens of Serbia” at a press conference at 1 p.m.

Social media users have been publishing photos from other angles since this morning, showing a police vehicle equipped with a device that looks like a sound cannon.

Let us remind you that at the protest on March 15, the fifteen-minute silence for the victims of the canopy collapse was interrupted when a stampede occurred in Kralja Milana Street due to something that eyewitnesses described as a loud sound of something approaching from behind, like a vehicle or an airplane.
