Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of the American president, has visited Belgrade again. Unlike his previous visit, as the media reports, this time he also held a meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.

This visit comes at a turbulent time when Serbia is shaken by student-led protests demanding accountability for those who died in the collapse of a canopy in Novi Sad, while the authorities are trying to portray them as foreign mercenaries.

After the meeting, Vučić announced “joint projects in the future.”

“A cordial conversation with Donald Trump Jr., the son of United States President Donald Trump, about bilateral relations between Serbia and the USA and current topics that shape the global political and economic scene. I emphasized the importance of economic and political relations between Serbia and the USA and stressed the importance of strategic cooperation between the two countries and joint projects in the coming years. This meeting symbolizes the commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and working together to address global challenges,” Vučić posted on his Instagram profile.

The nature of these deals is unknown, but it is possible that the visit is related to the previously announced plans of the Trump family, specifically the president’s son-in-law, to build a hotel on the site of the General Staff building.

Interestingly, Trump himself has barely mentioned Serbia since he returned to the presidential chair, except in the context of aid that our country received from USAID for public procurement, which, by all accounts, it will no longer receive.

The eldest son of former United States President Donald Trump previously visited Belgrade in September 2024. During this visit, he organized a gala dinner at a well-known hotel in the city center, which was attended by prominent Serbian businessmen.

Among the guests were Vojin Lazarević, the former owner of the Rudnap Group, and Slavko Carić, the former president of the Executive Board of Erste Bank and a member of the Supervisory Board of the Sevojno Copper Rolling Mill.

That visit sparked various reactions in the public, especially in the context of the then-presidential campaign in the United States. Some analysts believed that such moves could be risky for Serbia if they are perceived as openly siding with one candidate in the American elections.

In addition, the media reported on the possible business interests of the Trump family in the Balkans. After this visit, there was speculation about the potential expansion of the Trump Organization’s business in the region, which could have an impact on the local economy and political relations.

Donald Trump Jr. is the executive vice president of the Trump Organization and manages the company with his younger brother Eric.
