Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated that in the coming period, only the National Security Council will decide on ammunition exports. According to him, since yesterday, he has been enduring both internal and external pressure due to the decision to halt ammunition exports.
Vucic said that “black, gray, and white lists” of countries will be created regarding ammunition exports from Serbia.
“Now, the National Security Council is issuing an order to the Ministry of Trade that there will be no more ammunition leaving Serbia, but that presents a serious problem for us,” Vucic told reporters in Belgrade after the signing of employment contracts for the most successful medical faculty graduates.
He said that since last night he has been exposed to “great pressure from outside and inside” after the announcement of the suspension of ammunition exports from Serbia, and that he received information that there will be demonstrations in defense industry factories as early as July.
“Huge pressure has started to release another five, ten, 50 contracted shipments, and since I said no, then I was told that in July there will be demonstrations in the defense industry factories to show me that exports must happen because they need to receive salaries and live from all of that,” the president said.
Vucic added that Serbia imports “many things” from Israel but did not want to specify what they were.
“There are things that I hope will arrive in the country, but it doesn’t occur to me to say what took off and what landed,” Vucic said.
Yesterday, an Israeli Boeing 747 cargo plane, often used for transporting weapons, landed in Belgrade.
This happened on the day the president announced that Serbia would no longer export ammunition. Information quickly appeared on social media claiming that it had come for a military delivery.
