Velimir Đurović, well known among Partizan fans, spoke out about the events during the game between the black-and-whites and Paris.
Partizan was defeated by Paris with a score of 101:83 in the sixth round of the EuroLeague, but the game itself took a back seat due to the riots that broke out in the Belgrade Arena.
Because of all this, Velimir Đurović, who had previously been detained for messages displayed at Partizan matches, made several statements.
On a white banner, he briefly and effectively summed up the essence of the great protest: “Students In, Vučić Out,” which he had spoken about for Nova.rs at the time. He displayed that banner late last year during the EuroLeague match between Partizan and Fenerbahçe.
He couldn’t remain silent now about the violence by security guards at the game. He also addressed Ostoja Mijailović, the club’s president.
“Once again you’re sending security goons against real fans. The banner bothers you? You tried to call, threaten, revoke the season ticket. In vain. Ostoja, feel free to go to ‘Ćaciland’ along with your mercenaries, but I’ll repeat — the club isn’t yours, it’s ours,” wrote Velimir Đurović.
He continued in the same tone.
“There are only goons and true Partizan fans. No ‘buts.’ Those who don’t mind fake Ostoja with his fake budget, who don’t mind the paid group that doesn’t cheer for Partizan but sings to a war profiteer and harasses other fans — you’ve long been exposed. The so-called ones — ‘I don’t like Vučić, but…’ Next, they’ll say he built the roads.”
His words are definitely something every Partizan fan should hear and read.
“There’s one word — Ideal. That’s Partizan. And now think carefully, all of you who would sell your soul to the devil for one EuroLeague win — a win that, to be completely honest, doesn’t come just from the way the goons run the club and the stands, but from the banner that helped expose them, even if only a little,” said Velimir Đurović.
