The newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump announced that former Acting Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Thomas Homan, will oversee border issues in the new American administration.
Trump posted on his platform, Truth Social, that Homan will be responsible for the United States’ borders, maritime and air security, as well as the deportation of illegal migrants in the upcoming administration, Reuters reported.
Homan, who served in Trump’s administration for a year and a half during the previous term, is also a candidate for Secretary of Homeland Security.
During the campaign, Trump promised to implement mass deportations of migrants. The newly elected president is currently meeting with potential candidates for roles in his administration before officially taking office on January 20.
