Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he had a phone conversation late last night with Donald Trump, the newly elected President of the United States.

Zelensky posted on social media that he congratulated Trump on his victory in the presidential elections.

“I had an excellent conversation with President Trump and congratulated him on his historic and convincing win, a result that was only possible thanks to his impressive campaign. We agreed to maintain close dialogue and strengthen our cooperation,” Zelensky wrote on Telegram.

The President of Ukraine added that “strong and unwavering American leadership is crucial for the world and for a just peace.”

It is recalled that Trump had consistently criticized the Ukrainian president during his campaign, calling him a “dealer” who had secured too much military aid for Kyiv.
