TEL AVIV, Israel – The Chief of General Staff of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), Eyal Zamir, and the Commander of the Israeli Air Force, Tomer Bar, declared today, presenting a military assessment, that “THE ROAD TO TEHRAN IS OPEN,” announcing the start of air operations over the Iranian capital.
“According to plans, air force fighter jets will begin conducting strikes on targets in Tehran,” read a military statement, issued after a series of attacks on Iranian anti-aircraft systems, as reported by The Times of Israel.

This declaration followed an announcement by the Israeli military that its aircraft had destroyed air defense systems in Tehran overnight, allowing Israeli forces a greater operational presence in the airspace above the Iranian capital.
The Iranian news agency Fars reported that two missiles struck Mehrabad Airport in Tehran, while local media reported a fire at the location.
The airport, situated near key Iranian government institutions, also serves as an air force base, housing fighter and transport aircraft.
