In the glory and honor of the Holy New Martyrs who suffered in the Stara Gradiška camp, His Grace the Bishop of Pakrac and Slavonia, Mr. Jovan, consecrated the Slava cake and grain on the occasion of the anniversary of the attempted breakthrough of the Jasenovac camp prisoners and the eighty-first anniversary of the liberation of the camp.

Previously, on Wednesday, the feast of the Holy New Martyrs of Jasenovac was prayerfully observed in the Church of the Nativity of Saint John the Precursor in the Jasenovac Monastery.

With the faithful people, guests, and priestly and monastic clergy, the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy and the consecration of the Slava cake and grain were served by; His Eminence Metropolitan of Mileševa Mr. Atanasije and Their Graces the Bishops: Jovan of Pakrac and Slavonia, Kirilo of Buenos Aires and South-Central America and administrator of the Eparchy of Zagreb-Ljubljana, and Vicar Bishop Aleksej of Hvostno.

The Byzantine choir from Ljubljana, which visits the Jasenovac shrine almost every year and contributes to the prayerful mood with its singing, added to the beauty of the festive atmosphere.

During the Liturgy, His Grace Bishop Mr. Jovan ordained the worthy subdeacon Dr. Tibor Danelišen into the holy rank of deacon.

Together with their director, students of the Serbian Orthodox General Secondary School “Kantakuzina – Katarina Branković” from Zagreb also took part in the prayer of the Holy Liturgy.
