In the settlement of Buk, a bear destroyed the apiary of the Nešovanović family during the night. What is further disturbing is the fact that the apiary was located right in front of the family house, in a lit and populated area.
An even more dramatic case was recorded in the village of Šubarići – a bear managed to overpower a bull weighing about 750 kilograms. This event clearly demonstrates the strength and determination of these animals when they are in search of food.
Attacks on apiaries are also being recorded in other, more remote villages of the Ivanjica municipality. Beekeepers are particularly affected, as they can lose years of work and investment in a single night.
Bears, driven by the instinct for survival, will continue to seek food and enter populated areas. This is precisely why the residents’ fear is not without merit, but a concrete and permanent solution to this problem is currently lacking.
