Denver’s shock therapy worked. David Adelman did not resign like Željko Obradović, but his team snapped out of it, and after poor performances and several losses to teams that are definitely not on the Nuggets’ level, came the road game in Indiana! What happened in the locker room and who raised their voice we don’t know (we can only suspect), but it paid off – 135:120!
Nikola Jokić was finally surrounded by a team that looked like a championship squad and which he, of course, led. He scored 24 points (9-17 FG, 1-4 from three), had 13 assists, and grabbed 8 rebounds.
Murray is beginning to find his true form, and in this game he was perfectly dialed in, focusing less on setting up others. But that’s easy when you have Nikola next to you. In the end, the Nuggets’ point guard counted up to a record 52 points this year, with an excellent shooting percentage (19-25), 4 assists, and 6 rebounds.
Among the others, Bruce Brown had a solid game (14 pts, 4 reb), while Watson scored 11 (7 reb).
The hosts, still playing without their leader Haliburton, relied mostly on Pascal Siakam (23 pts, 4 ast). Nembhard scored 16 (7 ast), and Mathurin added 15 (7 reb).
Denver, now at 15–6, sits in 5th place in the Western Conference, while Indiana is at the bottom of the East, 14th place (4–18).
The Nuggets now head out on a three-game road trip, with the next matchup coming Friday against Atlanta.
