Red Star basketball players defeated Fenerbahce in Istanbul in the 3rd round of the Euroleague with a score of 76:57.
What a match we watched in Turkey! Even though Red Starwas considered an underdog, it was clear before the start that Janis Sferopoulos had certain assets in his ranks that could tip the scales against the “injured” Fenerbahce, missing several players like Wilbekin, Gudurić, and Biberović.
With that in mind, Red Star could hope for a miracle, and just like against Baskonia, they came out from the start with determination and the desire to upset and surprise Fenerbahce in their own home. This was evident from the opening minutes, where Joel Bolomboy practically demolished Boban Marjanović and also had shooting support.
That start of the match, where Red Starbuilt a lead and reached a huge +10 at one point, standing at 17:7 already in the first quarter, and then 26:12 at the end of it, while the lead grew to +19, spoke of Red Star’s desire but also the quality they have in their ranks.
How dominant Red Star was in this match is shown by the fact that they led for all 40 minutes of the game and at no point allowed Fenerbahce to threaten their victory. Currently, Red Star is also the only team in the Euroleague without a loss, leaving them alone at the top of the table.

It seems as if Janis Sferopoulos was right – his team needs time.
The best player of the match was Joel Bolomboy with 18 points and 11 rebounds, Nemanja Nedović added 17, while Mike Daum had 14 points. Kodi Miller-McIntyre also stood out with eight points and eight assists. For Fenerbahce, Nigel Hayes-Davis stood out with 20 points, while Devon Hall added 10.
Red Star had a great start to the match, practically flawless. Excellent defense on one side and then a fairly fluid offense, in which the shot worked perfectly again as seen in the playfulness.
It only took Red Stara little over three minutes to build a noticeable advantage. Bolomboy dunked three times in the opening minutes and hit a three-pointer, while threes also came from Kennan and Daum. Simply put, Red Star was on fire.
After six minutes, Red Star had their first double-digit lead when Mike Daum hit a three-pointer, and Fenerbahce took a new timeout. Then the scoreboard showed 17:7, when Nigel Hayes-Davis’s three-pointer followed. Red Starresponded through Daum, and then Nedović added points.
He hit a three-pointer and scored twice, bringing the final score to 26:12 after the first 10 minutes.
The rhapsody continued at the opening of the second quarter, when five points were connected and Red Star went to a huge +19. However, then Jago Mateus enters the game and somehow everything collapses, the Brazilian simply did not create, he soloed and did not contribute anything, when Fenerbahce made a 10:0 series.
Somehow Red Star recovered at the end of the quarter, they stayed in a big lead when they repelled the Turkish team’s attack, so they went to halftime with a +7.
In the third quarter, they returned again, played much better, and somehow managed to keep that lead. Mike Daum was excellent on both sides of the court at the start of the third quarter, he was good both offensively and defensively, which was also reflected in the result.

Red Star had the most problems in these 10 minutes when Nigel Hayes-Davis hit a three-pointer for 45:41, which would turn out to be the closest Fenerbahce would get in this match, when Daum hit a difficult shot.
Then Red Star connected seven more points, thanks to Teodosić and Mitrović, and again created a great lead of 12 points. In the last 10 minutes, Red Star practically played like in the first half, very concentrated, very careful.
They made very big series that Fenerbahce could not keep up with. Joel Bolomboy continued to be good, and at the very end, Nemanja Nedović and Nikola Kalinić also scored, bringing the final advantage.
