POWERFUL SERBIA: Our tennis players secure their place in the World Group, debutant delivers the decisive point!

The Serbian tennis team managed to secure its place in World Group I of the Davis Cup, defeating Lithuania 3–0! The decisive point for our country was won by the doubles team of Miomir Kecmanović and Stefan Latinović, who defeated Vilius Gaubas and Edas Butvilas 2–1, by sets of 7–6, 3–6, 6–3!

Serbia were huge favorites in this match, as they showed in the singles, where they easily took a 2–0 lead through victories by Miomir Kecmanović and Hamad Međedović, while they now confirmed their victory in this tie in the doubles.

The first set of the match lasted almost an hour, as the visitors were extremely motivated and the Serbian pair could not break them down easily. There were plenty of swings, and a possible turning point came in the 11th game, when Serbia suffered a break. However, they immediately won it back and the set went to a tie-break, where Serbia broke their opponents.

The Lithuanians played significantly better in the second set, as the tennis players from Serbia slightly lost their focus and surrendered two breaks. They got one back, but it was not enough.

In the end, the third set was extremely close, with both sides waiting for a break point, and when Serbia got one, they managed to take the lead.

This was also Stefan Latinović’s debut in the Serbian jersey.
