Young Serbian national team member and member of the Loznica Martial Arts Academy, Sonja Tomić, achieved a fantastic success by winning the gold medal at the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation World Cup, held in Zadar.

Sonja dominated in an extremely strong field in the U14 category for competitors up to 14 years old and up to 57 kilograms. Throughout a series of exhausting and demanding bouts, she displayed top-level preparation, fighting spirit and character, and in the final she defeated Poland’s Lena Kotkiewicz, deservedly reaching the top step of the podium.

This gold medal is yet another confirmation of the great talent and dedicated work of the young athlete from Loznica, who was previously named the city’s sports hope.

Her triumph in Croatia has brought great pride to her home club, the city of Loznica and Serbian martial arts as a whole.

The prestigious tournament at the “Krešimir Ćosić” Arena in Zadar brought together several hundred competitors from more than 30 countries around the world, and Sonja Tomić once again proved that Serbia has a bright future in jiu-jitsu.
