Of the seven boys who were injured this morning when a van overturned on the Novi Sad-Belgrade highway, five are stable, one is in intensive care out of danger, while one of the boys is being transported to Belgrade, where he will be cared for at the University Clinical Center of Serbia.
One child (16) died this morning in a traffic accident on the Novi Sad-Belgrade highway, and seven others, aged 13 to 16, as well as the driver (43), were injured. According to the statement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, they are members of the Partizan Judo Club from Belgrade, who were returning from an international sports camp and competition in Azerbaijan.
The head of the surgery department at the Institute for Health Protection of Children and Youth of Vojvodina, Miloš Bajić, told reporters that the boys were admitted this morning around 4:30 AM and that all seven patients were hospitalized, five of whom have stable vital parameters and are not in danger.
“I single out the boy who was admitted to the intensive care unit with an extensive injury to the cervical spine, whose transport is currently being carried out to the Clinical Center of Serbia in Belgrade. The second boy in intensive care, under general anesthesia, is doing well after the treatment of the wounds he had and is not in vital danger,” said Bajić.
The driver (43), who was admitted to the hospital with multiple traumatic injuries, has been treated and is currently under observation.
