Following a dramatic victory in Milwaukee, the Sacramento Kings attempted another road feat, but the Denver Nuggets, led by the best player in the world, Nikola Jokić, were too tough an opponent: 130-124.
Denver thus recorded its sixth consecutive victory against the Kings, who were not helped even by “insider” Russell Westbrook, who played for the Nuggets last season. Naturally, the Serbian national team player was the best in the winning team.
In 36 minutes, Nikola Jokić recorded a season-high 34 points, shot an excellent 14-22 from the field (4-10 from three), and also posted an incredible 14 assists, 7 rebounds, an impressive 4 steals, and 2 blocks, with only one turnover.
For the Denver team, which entered the game after a disappointing 109-107 loss in Portland following a late lead and a bizarre ending, solid contributions came from Christian Braun, who scored 21 points (3 ast, 4 reb), Gordon with 20 points (7 reb), while Murray added 15 (7 ast, 7 reb), and the other Brown was also solid with 13 points.
Among the defeated, former Nugget Westbrook stood out with 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists, followed by DeRozan with 19, Schröder with 18 (9 ast, 4 reb), and Sabonis with 13 (17 reb, 5 ast).
The Nuggets are fifth in the West with a 4-2 record, and the Kings sit in 13th place with a 2-5 record. Nikola Jokić’s team plays its next game in a five-game homestand on Wednesday against the Miami team of the other Nikola, Jović.
