Denver Nuggets basketball player Nikola Jokić stated that he has not yet made a decision on whether he will play at the EuroBasket, and that in the next few days he will enjoy beer, after Denver’s elimination from the playoffs.
Denver finished the season with a loss in the seventh game of the Western Conference semifinals against Oklahoma, and speculation about Jokić’s potential appearance at the EuroBasket has already begun.
The Serbian center stated that he has not yet made a decision and that he wants to relax in the coming period.
“I think the Olympic Games made me a better player. I played for my country, with different teammates, under different rules, and that really meant a lot to me. EuroBasket is coming, and I have to make a decision about that, but first I will talk to the coaches and the most important members of the national team. We’ll see what happens, and I’m sure I’ll enjoy beer in the next few days,” Jokić said in his own manner.
He also pointed out that the team cannot win a new title in the current lineup.
“This game was similar to the second game in the series. We lost the ball, we didn’t take enough shots, and they were aggressive and attacked us in transition. They made their shots. We didn’t win, so obviously we can’t go all the way. If we could, we would have won. We had our chances, but we didn’t take them. We can’t win a ring in this lineup,” Jokić added.
He also praised the commitment of Aaron Gordon, who played despite a hamstring injury.
“I told him not to play, considering that he could have injured himself even more seriously. He struggled, he moved with difficulty, but he is a lion. He came out, fought with us, and we can only appreciate that,” Jokić said.
He did not want to talk about the future of coach David Adelman, for whom he also had words of praise.

“He became a coach at a difficult time and had only three games to change something. I think he changed the energy and made us believe in something. We played seven good games against probably the best team in the league. We had chances, so I think he did a very good job. It’s not up to me to talk about his future,” Jokić said.
In the end, he stated that he was not entirely dissatisfied with the season.
“Many said the Clippers would beat us. Except for tonight, we always found a way to win the game and the series. This time it wasn’t good, but overall for the whole season we always found a way, and that’s what I’m most proud of. As for my personal performance, I had a good season, I stayed healthy, and I’m grateful for that, but I put in a lot of effort. I know what I’m doing and what my routine is. It seems to be good for me,” Jokić concluded.
