“IT IS MY HONOR TO BE HERE”: Usain Bolt visited Serbia, will be ambassador of EXPO 2027!

Multiple Olympic champion and record holder in sprinting athletic disciplines, Usain Bolt, stated today, after a meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, that he is excited to be able to present Expo 2027, which will be held in Serbia, to the whole world. Bolt emphasized that he is honored to have been invited to be an ambassador for the Expo.

-After the conversation I had with President (Vučić) a little earlier, we talked about the expansion of all that and the way Serbia will continue to develop. And among other things, Belgrade Waterfront, we talked about that beautiful part of this city and I am glad that I will be a part of it and that I will introduce more people to the beauties of Serbia – Bolt told reporters in the Palace of Serbia.

Bolt emphasized that he is honored to have been invited to be an ambassador for the Expo.

Bolt stated that he has known about Serbia for many years, that he has good friends, and that Serbia has great players.

-For me, it’s a really great honor to be here for the first time. I’m excited to be able to present the Expo to the whole world – said Bolt.

He added that the Expo is a great opportunity for the country to become more visible and to expand Serbia’s opportunities in order to develop the country to be better for its people.

When asked by a journalist what makes the Expo great, Bolt said it was the people.

-I have traveled a lot around the world and competed in many countries, and precisely because of that, I have many contacts with people. It’s always wonderful to talk to them, laugh, relax with them, and in that way, you get to know the warmth of that people, and because they are wonderful people, you want to go back there precisely because of that warmth, and I think that will be the main thing, the way you greet people and welcome them when they come to your country – said Bolt.

Answering a journalist’s question in the Palace of Serbia about how the word “sport” is defined in EXPO 2027, how the game itself was included in his development path, and how important it is for children to engage in sports, Bolt said that it is important to play.

-Playing is something that was a part of my upbringing and childhood; we often talk about children being in front of tablets and screens. It’s important for them to play, to play football; for example, we didn’t have tennis balls, we would kick an orange, for example. It’s important for children to be active and engage in sports; they also connect through sports, for example, when they watch a World Cup or any other cup – said Bolt.

He added that he is retired, but he encourages all children to engage in sports, to develop, and to be as good as possible.
