A student found a disturbing message on Friday (December 5) at the “Nadežda Petrović” Elementary School. Some parents refused to send their children to school on December 8, while the Ministry of Education states that crisis-response measures are being implemented.
A disturbing message was found on Friday (December 5) at the “Nadežda Petrović” Elementary School in Belgrade by one student, and the Ministry of Education announced that the school administration is acting in accordance with the Protocol for handling crisis situations.
According to “Blic,” the paper found by the student read “I will kill you all,” which caused discomfort among children and parents, and some did not send their children to school on Monday (December 8).
“The school administration immediately informed the police, which is proceeding further in accordance with its competences,” the Ministry of Education stated.
What measures have been taken?
In addition to increased teacher supervision, the school contacted the police and the city security service, which provided an increased presence of their personnel in order to ensure a higher level of safety, the statement added.
According to the Ministry, the school’s crisis-response teams and the teams for the protection of students from violence immediately established a set of measures to support the students.
In line with these measures, during the first class on Monday, teachers spoke with students about the incident, teachers and homeroom teachers will closely monitor the behavior of all students and react to the slightest sign of risky behavior, all students who feel distressed have access to the school psychologist and pedagogue for support, and the school administration will meet with the Parents’ Council to inform them about the procedures and measures taken.
