Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić expressed his condolences following the death of Croatian writer Vedrana Rudan and said that she knew how to make people laugh even when they did not feel like laughing, as well as that he respected her courage because she always said what she thought.

“I received the news of Vedrana Rudan’s death with sadness. Her words did not knock before entering, they went straight to the heart of the matter. She knew how to make us laugh when we did not feel like laughing and to say what others would rather keep silent about.

She had what I have always respected in people, the courage to say what she thinks, without calculations and without fear of whom she might offend.

I believe that she would have had a comment on this as well and that she would almost certainly have written it more briefly.

I extend my sincere condolences to her family, friends and admirers of her work,” the president said in a statement.
