Under the slogan “The North Calls,” a protest gathering of students in blockade from various parts of Serbia will be held in Subotica today. They arrived in the north of the country last night and spent the night at the blockaded faculties and higher education institutions in Subotica.
Students are expected to arrive from the faculties to the city center around 2 PM, marking the beginning of events that will last for the next 12 hours at several city locations.
The protest in Subotica should symbolize the unity of the citizens of Serbia in the fight for freedom and justice, without divisions based on nationality, religion, or race, the organizers announced.
An exhibition of banners from the protests will be set up in Ferenc Raichle Park, where actors from three Subotica theaters, with the support of colleagues from other cultural institutions, will have their “Cool Tour” point. An exhibition titled “All Victims of the System” will be opened in the Square of the Victims of Fascism, while a humanitarian photo shoot with a large model of a pump will be held near Emperor Jovan Nenad Square.
Speakers on the main stage in the center of Subotica are announced for around 7 PM this evening, after which there will be 16 minutes of silence in memory of the victims in Novi Sad.
Following that, there will be noise, then a concert by “Beogradski sindikat” at 11 PM, fireworks at midnight, and a DJ performance until 2 AM.
Streets in the wider city center will be blocked by tractors during the gathering of students and citizens.
