EMPLOYEES’ UNION: “The Pension and Disability Insurance Fund really is destroying documents containing key evidence about workers!”

Employees from the ASNS union have confirmed claims circulating on some social media platforms that documents have been destroyed at the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund (PIO Fund) in recent days. According to them, these documents could serve as evidence in future proceedings against those responsible at the institution.

We are reproducing in full the letter sent to our newsroom by the ASNS union:

“Through this statement, the ASNS — Union of Employees at the Republic Pension and Disability Insurance Fund of Serbia — officially confirms, from the scene, at the headquarters building of the Republic PIO Fund Directorate at 9 Dr. Aleksandra Kostića Street, that the information published yesterday on certain social media accounts is absolutely true and accurate. The information concerns the destruction of certain documents that could certainly serve as evidence in future proceedings against those responsible at the Republic PIO Fund!

For several days, and also during the nights, immediately after the announcement of the results of the October 25, 2026 elections, certain documents have been destroyed at the PIO Fund. There are very strong suspicions that these documents could be compromising for the Fund’s current management.

The documents are being thoroughly destroyed using machines (shredders) behind locked doors in certain offices on the third floor of the Republic PIO Fund Directorate headquarters at 9 Dr. Aleksandra Kostića Street in Belgrade.

Fortunately, this union has managed to save several black bags, which had previously been ordered in large quantities for this ‘dirty’ job. We believe it is urgently necessary to alert the public and publish additional photographs that we are sending as attachments to this email, as well as to file appropriate legal complaints and other submissions with the competent state authorities, including the police and the prosecutor’s office, and call on them to enter the headquarters of the Republic Pension and Disability Insurance Fund in Belgrade as soon as possible.

This is being done to stop the further destruction of documents and potential evidence in proceedings that must be initiated as soon as possible against those responsible at the Republic PIO Fund, in connection with the numerous (mis)deeds committed by the Fund’s current management, headed by Relja Ognjenović, director of the Republic PIO Fund. We have officially requested his resignation and dismissal from the competent authorities,” wrote Dragan Domazet, chief representative of the ASNS Union of Employees at the Republic Pension and Disability Insurance Fund of Serbia.
