A U.S. Congressman has nominated President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize after he brokered a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran, Fox News reports.

Congressman Buddy Carter of Georgia wrote to the Nobel Committee that Trump played an “extraordinary and historic role” in ending the “armed conflict between Israel and Iran and preventing the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism from acquiring the deadliest weapons on the planet.”

Trump declared an end to the “Twelve-Day War” late yesterday, with the ceasefire coming into effect this morning.

This ended a conflict that lasted just over a week, after Israel first launched an attack on Iran, claiming that Tehran was dangerously close to acquiring nuclear weapons.
