Novak Đoković had nothing but kind words for his next opponent, Filip Mišolić.
Novak Đoković aims to reach the round of 16 at Roland Garros, and standing in his way is Filip Mišolić. The Austrian tennis player has reached the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career. His greatest success until now was reaching the second round on the Parisian clay last season. The greatest player of all time knows him, even though they have never officially met before.
“I trained with him before the US Open. I know he has Croatian roots, that he plays for Austria. He’s a great guy, we got along well, we trained for seven days, he came with his coach. A normal and humble guy, his best result at a Grand Slam. I’m happy for him, I got to know him better, we trained and talked. May the better player win, I know what I have to do,” Đoković stated before their match at Roland Garros in a conversation with Serbian media.
Filip also spoke about Novak, even managing to joke about it. He is also aware that he is a complete underdog on Saturday evening at Philippe Chatrier stadium (8:15 PM CEST).
“How do I attack Novak? That will be a good question for my coach to deal with, because I don’t think Đoković has many weaknesses. I’m definitely looking forward to the match. I’ve known him for a long time, I’ve watched almost all of his matches, and I had the pleasure of meeting him in person when he invited me to Montenegro to train with him for five days. I’m happy about that; I received invaluable advice then, and I’m glad I had that opportunity,” Mišolić said.
