The greatest tennis player of all time Novak Đoković advanced to the round of 16 at Indian Wells after defeating, following drama and many difficulties, the American of Serbian origin Aleksandar Kovačević 6:4, 1:6, 6:4.
For almost an entire decade Novak had not reached the last 16 at this Masters. Back in 2017 he was eliminated at that stage by Nick Kyrgios, and the season before that he was last crowned in the Californian desert.
Kovačević fell after 122 minutes of play, and now on the way to the quarterfinals Novak will have to defeat Jack Draper, the defending champion, or the resilient Argentine Francisco Cerúndolo.

Đoković definitely did not have his brightest day. He did not play his best tennis, and that was complemented by the incredibly aggressive play of his opponent who had his serving day.
Practically, the Serbian ace had to look for even the smallest cracks in order to win this match.
The two of them know each other, they have trained together many times at many Grand Slams, and from there Aleksandar also has a recipe for how he could harm the greatest.
In the first set, Đoković saved one break point in the second game, and then in the third he took Kovačević’s serve, who had still not consolidated himself and begun to apply what he knows.
Believe it or not, the American did not lose a single point in his service games until the end of the set, but he still lost the set!
Novak knew how difficult it would be, he had already begun communicating with his box that he was not reading the game well and that things were not going very well for him.
When he failed to break the American representative in the first game of the second set, he himself suffered a break that so easily put him in the negative, and then into total dissatisfaction. He argued with his box, protested, and then even convincingly lost the second set.
