The Denver Nuggets suffered a humiliating defeat on their home court. The team led by Nikola Jokic lost to the New York Knicks 145-118 in the NBA. It was a demonstration of force by the team from the Big Apple, which won all four quarters in Colorado.
Jokic had one of his more modest performances this season. He finished the game with 22 points (9/20 shooting from the field), along with seven rebounds and assists in just under 32 minutes. With everything already decided, he played very little in the final quarter.
Everything was already decided by halftime, which New York went into with a 23-point lead. Once again, Denver’s defense was terrible. They allowed 73 points in 24 minutes, and the Knicks players did whatever they wanted in the paint.
The rest of the game was just a formality, and the Knicks, led by the brilliant Ogwumike, cruised to a convincing victory. The Great Britain international scored 40 points with five rebounds and four assists.

He was followed by Karl-Anthony Towns with a double-double of 30 points and 15 rebounds. He also added four assists. Jalen Brunson had 23 points and a whopping 17 assists.
The most efficient player for the Nuggets was Russell Westbrook with 27 points, three rebounds, and three assists. Jamal Murray had 20 points and seven assists.
Coach Mike Malone was furious after the game.
He emphasized the catastrophic attitude of his players in this game.
“No, no, fuck that man. You won’t kneel down when you’re embarrassed, nor because we allowed 145 points because we didn’t play hard, without desire, without physicality. You won’t.”
He singled out Russell Westbrook, who scored 24 of his 27 points in the final quarter. However, he hit out at Jokic and Murray.

"I need Nikola Jokic. I need Jamal Murray. I need guys that have been here in that starting lineup to be vocal." pic.twitter.com/FWCXMqBUXM
“Russell was vocal, but I need more than just Westbrook. I need Nikola Jokic to be vocal and Jamal Murray to be the starter. Tonight we embarrassed ourselves, what happened… To be honest, what happened today in four quarters and in the first half against Dallas… We’re talking about effort after 16 games, toughness, physicality, and the number one game in Memphis. This is regardless of who’s there and who’s not… What do we want to be as a team?”
He didn’t stop there.
“Leadership would be good, to play with a sense of care as well. We didn’t do that. They came after a tough loss in Utah and played like this. They played motivated basketball, and we played completely differently compared to the game with the Lakers just to show up. And when you do that against a team as good as them, this happens.”
The Nuggets play their next game on the night between Wednesday and Thursday when they visit the Utah Jazz.
