The Croatian Parliament today, with a majority vote of the deputies, passed the Law on extraordinary measures of price control, which should protect the standard of citizens from inflation and ensure a quick response to market disruptions by publishing prices on websites.
According to this law, traders will have the obligation to regularly publish and update the prices of all their products on websites and to enable unhindered access to digital tools that will provide customers with the possibility to compare prices in real time.

Every trader will have to clearly indicate the previous retail price of the product from a certain period or on a specific day, in addition to the current retail price. This will make it easier to track price changes and transparently inform consumers.
The law, which enters into force on the first day of its publication in the Official Gazette, also prescribes the restriction of prices of key products and services, as well as the clear labeling of products with restricted prices.
This means that the trader must display visual labels on products whose price is regulated, and in stores with over 400 square meters, provide special sales areas for these products. For non-compliance with the Law, traders face fines from 3,000 to 30,000 euros, and the law also provides for the confiscation of property gains obtained from the offense, HRT reports.
