COLLEAGUES OF THE MURDERED SURGEON SPEAK OUT: “He Never Said He Had Problems at Home, We Are Shocked That His 14-Year-Old Stepson Killed Him!”

The murder of Aleksandar Ilić (42), a surgeon from Vršac, has shocked his colleagues and friends, who have nothing but praise for him.

According to them, Dr. Ilić worked as a physician at the General Hospital in Vršac and saved many lives throughout his career.

“He was a wonderful young man and an outstanding doctor. He came from a respected family and never caused any problems. He also never told us that he had any problems at home, which is why the news of his murder left us stunned and speechless,” the late surgeon’s colleagues said, adding:

“We will remember him as a decent, hardworking, and supportive colleague. We do not know what happened behind the walls of his home, and nothing suggested that something like this could happen. We are completely shocked and stunned that he was killed by a 14-year-old child—his own stepson, with whom he had been living recently.”

Investigation Underway

As previously reported, the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Pančevo announced earlier today that a 14-year-old juvenile had been arrested on suspicion of killing a man at a house in Banatski Karlovac.

“Today, the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Pančevo submitted a request to the juvenile court judge of the Higher Court in Pančevo to initiate preparatory proceedings against a juvenile from Banatski Karlovac, born in 2012, on the grounds of reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of murder. The request alleges that on July 31 at approximately 8:30 p.m., in Banatski Karlovac, inside the house where he lives, he used a knife to take the life of A.I., a male born in 1984, from Vršac,” the Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement, adding:

“Following the hearing, the Higher Court in Pančevo, acting on the prosecutor’s proposal, ordered the juvenile into custody for up to 30 days because he is suspected of committing a criminal offense punishable by more than ten years in prison, while the manner in which the offense was committed and its consequences have caused public concern that could jeopardize the uninterrupted and fair conduct of the criminal proceedings. The request also proposes that the court question witnesses to the incident during the preparatory proceedings and order the necessary expert examinations.”

The Boy Is the Son From the Surgeon’s Wife’s First Marriage

As a reminder, the arrested boy is the son from the surgeon’s wife’s first marriage.

“The stepson allegedly attacked Ilić with a knife. It is being said that the incident was preceded by an argument between Ilić and his wife. The boy was allegedly present during the dispute and grabbed a knife in an attempt to protect his mother. That is what is being reported, but what actually happened will be determined by the investigation,” the source recalled.
