A 10-year-old boy from Niš, who was seriously injured in a traffic accident in Montenegro, was flown to Serbia aboard a Serbian Government aircraft and landed at Constantine the Great Airport, from where he was transported to the University Clinical Center Niš, the institution confirmed to Kurir today.
The boy, who had previously been treated in Montenegro, was transported by an ambulance from the University Clinical Center Niš to the Clinic for Pediatrics. He had spent 10 days in critical condition and on mechanical ventilation at the Clinical Center of Podgorica. He was transferred to Niš after being taken off the ventilator and once his condition had stabilized.
“On the same flight, the patient’s mother, who was also injured in the traffic accident, was transferred as well. The transport was carried out under the supervision of a multidisciplinary medical team after the attending physicians determined that both patients were in stable enough condition for safe transfer.

“The boy and his mother will continue their treatment at the University Clinical Center Niš, where their health condition will be continuously monitored and all necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures will be provided,” the University Clinical Center said in a statement.
Diagnostic examinations are currently underway at the University Clinical Center Niš, after which doctors will determine the next course of treatment.
The boy was injured in the village of Lipci in Montenegro, along with 15 other passengers traveling in a minibus. The accident will be remembered for the tragedy in which Jovana Stanković, from the village of Vrtište near Niš, lost her life.
