The court panel in Pozega decided not to order detention for the six arrested in Kosjeric, who are charged with disturbing public order and peace and obstructing police in the performance of their duties. The suspects were issued a three-month house arrest order.
The decision was made in the presence of the suspects, who arrived at the Pozega courthouse on two occasions, as well as numerous residents of Kosjeric, Pozega, and surrounding areas, who chanted: “Release them all. Arrest Vucic. We want elections.”
The defense lawyer for the accused stated that neither the defense nor the prosecution would appeal the court panel’s decision.
The entire case unfolded in an almost identical scenario to what happened in Uzice when, due to a close encounter with a police cordon, citizens of that city were arrested and, after police detention, were remanded in custody for up to 30 days, which did not happen in this case.
As a reminder, a few hundred residents of Kosjeric gathered two days ago to prevent a “Stop Blockaders” march by SNS supporters who came to Kosjeric from all over the Zlatibor district.
The people of Kosjeric called this act a provocation because no blockades have been organized in their town for a long time, especially after everything they experienced from the government’s supporters during the recent local elections. On that occasion, the police, equipped with full riot gear, stood in defense of the progressives, and the pushing of citizens led to contact with the police and their shields, which the police interpret as an attack.
